Page Eight and Legend Two of Heroes' Rising

  Legend 2: Spyro's Tale                                                                                                                                                                                                    The world of Dragons used to be a peaceful place, or so the story goes. Dragons were peaceable folk, and the only real use for talons or teeth was in crafting sculptures and structures from stone, and cutting the gems that were so important to the Dragon race.
    Maybe they just took it for granted, or maybe it was simply fate that decided to turn the tables, because this era of peace came to an abrupt halt at the twitch of a tail. It hasn't been the same since.

   No one remembers exactly how it happened, but it's said that this "dark age" started with a Gnorc. A cross between a gnome and an orc, this Gnorc was so nasty that today he is known as Gnasty Gnorc (pun intended). Gnasty started out as a harmless prankster, but when his tricks became violent he was banished to the wasteland and that was thought to be the end of it. But Gnasty used this solitude to plot his revenge.

   Within the next year, Gnasty had stirred up an enemy from a neighboring realm, appointing himself as their king and leading them in an all-out attack on the Dragon worlds. Such a battle has ever been seen before. The Dragons were skilled fighters, but so was the enemy, and when the battle was over neither side had won. The Dragon worlds were left in ruins and its inhabitants in no fit state to repair it. If they ever wanted life to be as it once was, they had to stop Gnasty Gnorc.

  For many years, war was waged between the Dragons and Gnasty's army. Neither side had gained any advantage against the other until, one day not too long ago, Gnasty stumbled upon a spell that would trap all the Dragons in impenetrable crystal prisons, instantly winning the war for himself. The spell was then cast, and every last Dragon was fossilized inside a cast of solid crystal.

  Every last Dragon, that is, but one.

OH, GEE, I wonder who that was. Sorry, I know it's hard to read the white on black. ^_^;
