Least Favorite Veggie...?

Hey there!

School's out (finally!) so here's something I doodled last night for the 29th anniversary of Kid Icarus! (December 19)

Yeah, we all hate eggplants in Kid Icarus. ^_^ That sounds really weird if you haven't played the game...hmm. If the text on the page destroys your eye capillaries, I apologize. I hate scanning and so I use a camera. ^_^;

Happy Veterans' Day!

Hi there! It's been over a month, so here's something I enjoyed drawing last night...

Again, this is the Princess of Moonbrooke from Dragon Warrior II; I can't stop drawing her! I also just watched the Hobbit lately, so the whole "armor look" is fresh on my mind. ^_^
Happy Veterans' Day!

Late post...^_^;

     Alrighty, here I am again, after a long absence...I was going to post this on the Zelda anniversary, which was eight days ago, but it ended up taking a while (thanks a lot, homework). Oh well. I guess it's actually posting that counts.

     So then, here's Link from A Link to the Past, walking home from a good long day of farming with his.......identical twin!

OH, actually I meant to say his uncle, who is apparently a mix of Mario and Santa Claus. Family resemblance? Zero.

Happy belated birthday, Link! <(`~`)> (In case you're wondering, that is a Tingle emoticon. That's right, people. Relevant and creepy!)

Dragon Warriors and Anniversaries

Hi! Back again, and with another picture! Here's how I imagine the princess of Moonbrooke looks in the game Dragon Warrior 2:
Here we are! I left out the shading on her body because I thought she looked better without it; this drawing was mostly about the hair. I like to call this chick Elani simply because it's what the game gave us as her name, and I think it suits her better than the others (Olissa, Roz, Illyth, etc....). ^_^ Kinda doesn't go along with the Akira Toriyama depiction of her (Akira Toriyama is the designer of the characters for the game), but you never really get to see her, so this is the image in my mind of how she looks.
Also, I thought I might mention that TODAY (September the tenth, in case you look at this in the future ^_^) is the 23rd anniversary of the game Spyro the Dragon! Which is a little ironic 'cuz in Dragon Warrior you're required to kill a bunch of dragons, so this gal would totally be out for Spyro's blood right now...but, anyways, WOOHOO!!! Happy birthday, Spyro! And way to go, PlayStation! ^_^

LegendQuest #3 POSTER!!!

Hey there! Here's something I've been working on--a "poster" for LegendQuest 3: Heroes' Calling! It's sort of based on some posters for movies I've seen, hence the floating heads of the characters at the top (^_^) and the metallic(ish) title. It's a little early since I'm not even finished with Heroes' Rising yet, so you might not recognize some of the dudes on the page, but WHATEVER!!! It's an art blog, right? Right.

Here's the original image...
...and HERE'S the new-and-improved, enlarged, full-color, okay-so-maybe-I-did-a-little-computer-editing poster!

Spyro seems to have gone through a gigantamongous growth spurt since Heroes' Rising. Also, don't worry, that guy on the right with the black hair has pants on, just no shirt; I couldn't very well draw his pants in there, could I? That would look weird. Floating legs dangling in a void of blackness? Yeez.
Yeah, it doesn't make much sense yet. For now, just enjoy the picture, without any clue whatsoever as to what it means. ^_^ Soon it will, my Hyrule fans. And what a glorious day that will be. Mwa ha ha ha ha ha ha...

P.S. A special thank-you goes to Mary for inspiring me to color it! Incantasi, my faithful companion--if you look closely, you might just see a very faint line across you-know-who's right cheek. ^_^

Get Out Your Umbrella...^_^

Just a little something I doodled last night--the Song of Storms from Ocarina of Time (quite possibly my favorite ocarina song from that game, although I really like the Serenade of Water and the Song of Time. Then again, who doesn't once they've heard them? ^_~). Not much, but it was inspired by some necklaces I saw on a website that showed the buttons you press to play the songs, which I thought was really creative. ^_^

Zeldamania!!!

It's been a while since I last posted, so here are three pictures I drew over that time.
Here's how I imagine a modern Hylian knight to look. Gee whiz, gal, you got some long hair! (Then again, I suppose almost all Hylians do need a haircut...ahem-hem-hem Link...)

I know Twilight Princess isn't on the list of games down there, but this was just a spontaneous idea I had to draw out. I've never played Twilight Princess, so I don't quite know if Link is ever half in, half out of wolf form. He just looks cool this way. ^_^ (Hmm...he doesn't really look like Twilight Princess Link; more like A Link To The Past. Another game I've never played. ^_^;)

The "7-years younger" version of you-know-who from Ocarina of Time.  Link: "Prepare to meet your doom, tiny bug!"
(No Akira Himekawa comics were used for reference, I'll have you know. ^_^)

Hope you enjoyed!!!

Hyrule Guardian

This somewhat generic (^_^) picture of Link is sort of a mix of "Oh, hello there" and "You keep the heck outta Hyrule, 'cuz I got's me a sword and I'm not afraid to use it". Just a picture I had a blast drawing earlier today after getting back from CAMP!!!!! So much fun. ^_^
(Yeah, the computer editing on the sword didn't exactly work. ^_^; It was smudgy in the first place, but then it just got worse... oh, well.)

Wind Waker Medli

Here's my interpretation of Medli, the bird girl from Zelda Wind Waker. Since the game's style is more cartoony, I decided to make this version of Medli more realistic than "chibi". ^_^ I drew this picture entirely in ball-point pen, so I got really excited when I finished it. ^_^
Anyways, since I'm still writing out/storyboarding the rest of LegendQuest, this is just something I had that I thought would be fun to post.

Pages Seventeen Through Nineteen of Heroes' Rising

Yergggh... Mr. Armor is way too skinny on those first two pages. ^_^; Oh well; I'm learning.
After this post, I'll be taking some time off to write out the entire story and get it into storyboard form so I can edit it and spend more time on the actual art. Thank you for your patience! I know it's annoying to only read one or two pages every week or so. ^_^ However, I'll still be putting game art up on here, since I'm such an art-oholic.

Page Sixteen of LegendQuest: Heroes' Rising

YEEEEEEEEEAAAAAHHH!!! I was so excited when I completed this page--like I said last time, this dude is, like, my favorite. Although Spyro doesn't exactly look too thrilled.
P.S. Mary, if you're ever on here-- you remember our little inside joke. Armor can be dashing too. ^_^

Page Fifteen of Heroes' Rising

Yeah, only one page this time. Hmm...what was Spyro saying earlier about Alefgardians having "claws" and "scales"? 'Cuz this guy doesn't exactly look like he has any...
Also, I thought I might mention that today is the 29th anniversary of the game Dragon Warrior, which only a couple of people in Silicon Valley are celebrating, probably. But I'm sort of having a little celebration in honor of a total classic in gaming history anyways. (Ha ha--can you guess who this dude is now? Sort of a dead giveaway from the start, what with the armor...^_^ I can't wait for you to meet him; he's like my favorite character!)

Pages Eleven Through Fourteen of Heroes' Rising

Hahaha--there are these bloodthirsty monsters trying to wipe out the Dragon race, so now it's time for bed. Not very subtle, I know; I just wanted to speed up the story a little so it didn't get boring. ^_^ Again, the annoying white spots are white-out and I'm trying to get rid of them using computer editing; that's why Link's face is all smudgy. Okay, I am seriously going to need a new brush pen soon...

Pages Nine and Ten of Heroes' Rising

Well, they don't sound super friendly. Sorry about the white lines--they're White-Out and for some reason the camera really picked them up. ^_^;   Link looks like he's got a beard, tee hee...

Page Eight and Legend Two of Heroes' Rising

  Legend 2: Spyro's Tale                                                                                                                                                                                                    The world of Dragons used to be a peaceful place, or so the story goes. Dragons were peaceable folk, and the only real use for talons or teeth was in crafting sculptures and structures from stone, and cutting the gems that were so important to the Dragon race.
    Maybe they just took it for granted, or maybe it was simply fate that decided to turn the tables, because this era of peace came to an abrupt halt at the twitch of a tail. It hasn't been the same since.

   No one remembers exactly how it happened, but it's said that this "dark age" started with a Gnorc. A cross between a gnome and an orc, this Gnorc was so nasty that today he is known as Gnasty Gnorc (pun intended). Gnasty started out as a harmless prankster, but when his tricks became violent he was banished to the wasteland and that was thought to be the end of it. But Gnasty used this solitude to plot his revenge.

   Within the next year, Gnasty had stirred up an enemy from a neighboring realm, appointing himself as their king and leading them in an all-out attack on the Dragon worlds. Such a battle has ever been seen before. The Dragons were skilled fighters, but so was the enemy, and when the battle was over neither side had won. The Dragon worlds were left in ruins and its inhabitants in no fit state to repair it. If they ever wanted life to be as it once was, they had to stop Gnasty Gnorc.

  For many years, war was waged between the Dragons and Gnasty's army. Neither side had gained any advantage against the other until, one day not too long ago, Gnasty stumbled upon a spell that would trap all the Dragons in impenetrable crystal prisons, instantly winning the war for himself. The spell was then cast, and every last Dragon was fossilized inside a cast of solid crystal.

  Every last Dragon, that is, but one.

OH, GEE, I wonder who that was. Sorry, I know it's hard to read the white on black. ^_^;

Happy Easter! Pages Two and Three of Heroes' Rising

Here are pages five and six of Heroes' Rising! I didn't post last week because my family was on vacation, so this is sort of to make up for it. ^_^ Anyways, happy Easter--He Is Risen!

Page Four of Heroes' Rising

Happy Spring Break! This page was sort of an experiment on rendering bushes, which I had a ton of fun working on.

Page Two of Heroes' Rising

Page 2 is here! Link's ears are a little bit different from the first page; I just like these better. Sorry about the text--I'm having to hand-letter it and am trying to make it as neat and big as possible so it doesn't hurt to read. ^_^;

"LegendQuest" is Here!

Welcome to the world of LegendQuest, HyruleArt followers! This is a serialized comic I've been thinking about and working on for a long time, so I'm really excited to post it on my blog! YAAAAY!!! Anyways, here we go...

LEGENDQUEST I:

HEROES' RISING

Legend One

The Legend of Zelda

Once upon a time, there was a Triforce.

This Triforce had the power to grant the wish of anyone who possessed it, and its strong magic chased away sorrow and bitterness and brought in warmth, light, and prosperity. All the people in Hyrule were happy, and their ruler, Princess Zelda, reigned over the kingdom with wisdom and justice. With the Triforce in Zelda's hands, it was a golden age.

But it was not to last.

Eventually, people began to seek the Triforce for themselves, yearning for its wish-granting power. One of these people was a Dark Lord by the name of Ganon. His deep-seated greed had turned him into an evil beast, and his strong lust for the Triforce gave him the power to create an army of minions that would obey his every command. Ganon used these minions to break into Hyrule Castle and seize the Triforce and the princess. But as a last, desperate effort to protect the Triforce before she was captured, Zelda crushed it and the four pieces magically scattered throughout the land.

Ganon was enraged that his minions had failed to smuggle the Triforce, so he imprisoned Zelda in his palace at Death Mountain and sent his armies to search for the lost pieces of the Triforce.

Many potential heroes were given the task to save the princess and defeat the Dark Lord, Ganon. None of them succeeded, and many of them perished by Ganon's own hands. It soon looked as though no one could stop him. But one of the heroes chosen was different. A lowly farmhand by the name of Link, he set out armed with nothing but a sword and his wits to fulfill his destiny by saving Princess Zelda and her kingdom of Hyrule. Little did he know what was in store for him...

So there's the beginning! I'll only be doing about two pages a week, due to the rate that I draw. ^_^; LegendQuest is sort of a mash-up of all the games featured on this blog, so be looking for your favorite characters along the way! Enjoy and LET THE LEGEND BEGIN!!!

Valentines Day for Kid Icarus

What better choice than Pit to draw for Valentine's day? I know it's a little early, but I won't be home to post this on the 14th. If you're from my class and got the address to my blog, a special thank you to you for visiting! I appreciate it.

Six More Weeks of Winter

Looks like the groundhog saw the wrong shadow this year. *Sigh*...Thanks a lot, Shadow Link.  P.S. I'm still waiting for any suggestions as to the next post...feel free to leave a comment...^_^

Frozen According to Zelda

Enough with this Disney business--it's time for Zelda to take a stand with the movie that little girls everywhere have gone crazy about (literally, everywhere, and literally, crazy).                                                                                                                                                                                                    For my next post, I'd like you to decide what I'm going to draw next! There's a "Game List" at the bottom if you scroll down, so you can choose a game from there and make your suggestion in the comments section (since I'm hardly familiar with any others--what is this "Pokémon" of which you speak?). For example; "Prince Orfeo from Dragon Warrior 2 casting the spell of Firebane", etc. Thanks! ^_^

A Day In the Woods

Happy Martin Luther King Day, everybody! No school today, so I thought I'd just work on a little project for the blog...my sister was playing Ocarina of Time today as well, and that game just has a way of making me want to draw little Link and Navi. Okay, so I tinted the photo a little bit just to make it look more "Lost Woods"-y... ^_^

The Gem of Alefgard: Princess Gwaelin

Princess Gwaelin from Dragon Warrior I. This was mostly an experiment with profile views and adding hair highlights with markers. Not the most "blendable" markers, as you can tell from her dress. ^_^;

Princess of Moonbrooke

This is how I imagine the Princess of Moonbrooke from Dragon Warrior 2 looks. "Elani" is just one of the names for her; she also goes by numerous others since it's a role-playing game. Princess Elani just has a nice ring to it!

Life Lessons According to Dragon Warrior

Hey, anyone remember that NES game from 1986, Dragon Warrior? Here's a motto I think everyone should know, written in that traditional Alefgardian "Olde English" style. The camera really didn't pick up the yellow, sorry...

New Year's Resolutions

Spyro and Sparx make their 2015 New Year's Resolution. P.S. I pressed 'enhance' on iPhoto and couldn't get it off for some reason, so...yeah...I guess Spyro's a neon purple dragon now. ^_^;
